What is ABA?

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) applies systematic approaches to understand and change behavior. ABA is the process of systematically applying interventions that are based on the principles of learning theory. These interventions utilize research based techniques and are used to improve socially significant behaviors which can occur by teaching new skills and/or by reducing maladaptive behaviors that may interfere with learning. ABA Therapy is recommended by pediatricians, the US Surgeon General, and the American Psychological Association as the most effective evidence-based treatment for Autism.

ABA - Applied Behavior Analysis Therapy Program, Full-Time & Part-Time

The Growing Tree provides both Full-Time and Part-Time individualized ABA therapy programs for children ages 2 through young adulthood depending on their cognitive, verbal, and behavioral levels. This intensive therapy is provided with a 1:1 client-to-therapist ratio and targets increasing each client’s skill level across multiple domains including language, self help skills, social skills, academic skills as well as skills and behaviors that prepare that child for a classroom environment. Full-Time is defined as 8:15 to 1:45 (stay through lunch). This includes times that target social and classroom behaviors with a 1:1 client to therapist ratio. Part-Time is defined as 1.5 to 4 hour sessions.

School Shadow & ABA Therapy Program

The Growing Tree’s School Shadowing Program is tailored for those students who are ready to be included more fully in the general classroom setting. These services offer ample opportunity for clients & students to develop and practice the skills and behaviors he or she needs in their natural classroom setting as well as increase the likelihood that he or she will generalize these skills in the natural environment. Each school shadow program is individualized based on the performance of that individual client/student’s performance in the classroom setting. Each school shadow client also receives ABA Therapy in clinic during after school hours. These therapy sessions allow them to practice and gain the needed behaviors, social skills, and academic skills their RBT/BCBA identifies throughout their shadowing day.

Over the next year and a half, the Growing Tree will be adding two new locations in Jackson and Meridian. This is a huge step but, we are so excited to be able to meet the needs for more of Mississippi’s children on the spectrum!  We have set an overall goal of $150,000 to fully fund these projects.  We will be hosting fundraisers throughout the year and partnering with parents and local vendors to open two new clinics with cutting edge resources. Will you partner with The Growing Tree over the next 16 months to help furnish and supply both new locations? We will need tables, chairs, iPads, Computers, Office furniture, indoor playground equipment, curriculum, and so much more to get off on the right foot.

How can I help?  Contact our new Fundraising Director, Summer Slovak, to join the team and help raise the much-needed funds to meet the needs of our rapid growth. She will need volunteers as well as any connections that you may have to local businesses willing to partner with us. Email her at summer@growingtreeaba.com
